FIRE GALLERY: Canyon gets wake up call
The fire started shortly before 10 a.m. in a hilly area off Dawson Canyon Road.
Within minutes, the fire grew.
Here’s how it looked when the first engine company arrived.

El Sobrante Landfill sent a water tanker to the scene in case it was needed.
Although the blaze was contained at 10:44 a.m., firefighters were still dousing hot spots two hours later.
